MADISON (WKOW) — It may be the modern-day version of rescuing a cat from a tree, but in this case, Madison firefighters were called to rescue a cell phone.
A north side Madison man stopped into Station 10 recently and asked for firefighters’ help in retrieving his cell phone, which he had accidentally dropped into a sewer.
Firefighter/Paramedic Brandon Jones, Firefighter/Paramedic Joe Gangler and Firefighter/EMT McKinnan Stamschror put on their thinking caps.
Using a halligan tool (in most other cases used by firefighters and police to forcibly gain entry), they removed the sewer grate to get into the drain.
They were able to grab the phone and return it to the young man.
