UPDATE (WKOW) — Police say a vehicle involved in an armed robbery in Columbia County led authorities on a chase that ended with a crash in Madison.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office says shortly before 6 p.m. Friday, the suspect, 40-year-old Jeffrey J. Parker of Madison, walked into the Summit Credit Union in Portage, showed a gun and ordered all employees to the floor where he then secured each of them with physical restraints.

He fled, leading police on a chase at speeds more than 100 miles per hour into Madison.

Officers say the vehicle collided with a FedEx truck at the intersection of East Washington Avenue and Stoughton Road. Police say no injuries were reported.

Madison Police arrested Parker.

He is currently at the Columbia County Jail awaiting an initial appearance in Columbia County Circuit Court.

The crash scene was cleared around 8:30 p.m. Friday.

MADISON (WKOW) — Traffic officials say two southbound lanes are closed on East Washington Avenue at Stoughton Road because of a crash.

The crash happened just after 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Pictures from the scene show a FedEx truck lying on its side on East Washington Avenue.

The Dane County Communications Center says during the initial call, there were no reports of any injuries.
