Man robs gas station clerk at gunpoint, gets away with cash

MADISON (WKOW) — A man allegedly robbed a Speedway gas station early Sunday morning, according to Madison police.

According to a press release, the suspect went into the Speedway gas station on Verona Road just after 5 a.m. and robbed the clerk at gunpoint. The suspect got away with money and started to leave the store. As the man started to leave, the clerk moved to lock the door.

Right after the suspect got outside, he fired one round. The clerk was not hurt.

There was no property damage and police said.  At this time, there’s no evidence to suggest  the suspect was shooting at the clerk.
