JOHNSON CREEK (WKOW) — An 8-day international ride for wounded veterans finished Saturday in Johnson Creek.

The Road Warrior Ride 2019 started October 4 in Quebec, Canada.

Saturday, the riders got a hero’s welcome at the end of the ride at Rob’s Performance Motorsports.

The Road Warrior Project says the ride is an important bonding experience for the veterans. It’s what they call “Adventure Therapy” to encourage them to take on any challenge.

“This is a life-changing opportunity for a lot of the veterans that come along with this, and it comes because of the camaraderie that we experience on these events,” said Kendell Madden, who runs RWF’s West Coast Operations. “It really is impactful, lasts a long time because we realize we are so much more capable after doing something like this.”

Dozens of riders joined the veterans on the last leg into Johnson Creek.

The Road Warrior Foundation is run entirely by volunteers.
