Restaurant owners step in after giving employees morning off to vote

MADISON (WKOW) — The owners of Nonno’s Ristorante Italiano in Madison got in to the spirit of Election Day by giving its employees the morning off to vote.

“We gave all of our employees the morning off so that they could go and vote !” they wrote on their Facebook page.

But their good deeds didn’t end there, and they were noticed by at least one customer.

Bryna Nelson contacted WKOW to say she was eating at the restaurant, located at Whitney Way and Gammon Road, when she noticed her waiter was extra kind to an elderly disabled customer.

“He helped him with his things and wheeled him out to his ride, even in the rain,” she said. “He also ran to bring me napkins and carry my things when he saw me spill my coffee a little while trying to juggle a takeout container, coffee, and a baby.”

Nelson snapped a photo of the waiter, who turned out to be one of the owners.
