MADISON (WKOW) — Every year, more than 15 million babies are born prematurely; a million will die before their first birthday.  An upcoming event is working to reverse that trend, while allowing those to indulge in a taste of Madison.

On Thursday, Ashley Mucek, executive director of March of Dimes, and Kelly Mundth, of Exact Sciences, joined the Wake Up Wisconsin team to talk about the March of Dimes annual Signature Chefs Auction on Friday.

Mundth has a direct connection with the March of Dimes.  Her son Eli was born prematurely, and it’s one of the reasons she is serving as co-chair of Signature Chefs Auction this year according to her. To listen to her story, watch the video above.

The event is Friday, November 9 at 6 p.m. at The Edgewater on 1001 Wisconsin Place in Madison.

27 News anchor Amber Noggle will emcee the event and share her personal story about the very recent birth of her son, Dax.
