Arcia leaves Brewers game early, rushes to hospital to see birth of his twin girls

(WKOW) — Fans watching the Brewers game on Sunday may have seen shortstop, Orlando Arcia leave the game abruptly. The team’s manager said he had a good reason, his wife was in labor.

During the third inning, Arcia was suddenly subbed out. It turns out that’s when he got the call his fiancee, Elena was in labor. Once he got the news, he left the game immediately and rushed to the hospital.

“We’ve got all good news from the hospital, so that’s a great day,” Craig Counsell, the Brewers manager said. “Maybe a couple of days off here can help him rest up a little bit…although babies don’t usually quite rest,” Counsell said.

Arcia was put on the paternity leave roster, so that leaves the Brewers shorthanded and short-stop going into the next few games against Miami.
