MADISON, Wis. – Three forwards have signed National Letters of Intent to join the Badgers this fall, Wisconsin men’s hockey head coach Tony Granato announced on Wednesday.
The three include Roman Ahcan (Savage, Minnesota), Brock Caufield (Mosinee, Wisconsin) and Jack Gorniak (West Salem, Wisconsin). They are in addition to the student-athletes who signed in the early signing period in November. All commitments are contingent on admission into school.
"The guys who are coming in are culture guys," Granato said about the entire signing class. "They are guys the fans are going to identify with. They are hard-working guys and that comes out in their play. They are never going to cheat the Badger fans and their teammates.
"They also have unreal skill. They all have their skill in their own way. When you are talking four or five who will be NHL draft picks. Other guys who may not get drafted, but who are still going to find ways to play professional hockey. The one thing that is very consistent is they are all great character kids. They all have the ability to be leaders in their own way and a lot of these guys are leaders where they are at."
