Brewers’ Aguilar headed to All-Star game

The Brewers’ social media blitz appears to have worked. First baseman Jesus Aguilar won the ‘Final Vote’ to earn a roster spot on the National League All-Star team.

Aguilar earned 20,229,498 votes, the second highest total in the Final Vote since it began in 2002. He joins the Dodgers’ Justin Turner as the only two players to ever exceed the 20 million-vote mark. He is the third Brewers player to ever win the Final Vote.

Aguilar came into the day tied for the National League lead with 23 home runs. He was hitting .302 and leading the N.L. with a .631 slugging percentage and 1.000 OPS.

Aguilar joins Lorenzo Cain, Christian Yelich and Josh Hader on the N.L. squad.
