Edgewood wins 14th girls golf state title

Taking home championship trophy hardware in early October has become a regular occurrence for the Madison Edgewood girls golf team. On Tuesday they won their 14 team title in school history and their eighth straight.

The Crusaders were saved by Grace in the state meet, two Graces to be exact. Grace Jaeger and Grace Welch. Each finished at 14 over par, and tied for third in the meet.

One stroke back, fellow Crusader Caitlyn Hegenbarth at 15 over par.

Madison Edgewood finished with 659 strokes as a team. 60 strokes better than the next best team in Division 2.

In Division 1, Stoughton’s Caylie Kotlowski was the top performer from the Madison area finishing eight over par and a 4th place finish.

Middleton had two golfers finish in the top 20. Katherine Meier finished fifth at 11 over par, and Glenna Sanderson finished in 18th place at 21 over par.

The Cardinals took home a runner up team finish, eight strokes behind Kettle Moraine. Waunakee finished in sixth place, four strokes behind fifth place New Richmond.
