The Wisconsin softball team held their last practice at Goodman Diamond in Madison before leaving for Norman, Okla. on Wednesday for the NCAA Regionals.
This will be the third straight trip to the national tournament and fifth under head coach Yvette Healy.
“We’ve been on the road for a lot of big games this year. It’s another check mark off our bucket list of going to a different state that most of the team hasn’t been too,” said sophomore infielder Taylor Johnson.
Of Wisconsin’s 40 wins this season, 17 of them have been at a neutral site.
“You go back and fourth saying, ok, how good are we? We’ve hung in so many big games. It’s time to start believing that we are this good,” said senior outfielder Kelly Welsh.
Oklahoma is the No. 1 seed with a 49-2 record and the Badgers will also be joined by UMBC (30-22) and Notre Dame (36-16). Wisconsin will play Notre Dame on Friday at 6 p.m. televised on ESPN.
