The Madison Memorial football team is coming off their first winning season since 2015 and their first share of a conference title since 2009. The Spartans have returning talent this season for a possible conference title repeat.
In his second season as the Spartans head coach, Mike Harris led Memorial to an 8-2 record last season.
“Coach Harris did a fabulous job in coming in and setting that tone,” said senior quarterback Jason Ceniti.
Ceniti passed for nearly 1,600 yards as a junior last year. He was named a Big Eight Conference Offense First Team selection.

“We aren’t going to take anybody by surprise this year,” Ceniti said. “Everybody knows that they are conference champions last year, it wasn’t a fluke.
Teaming up on offense with Ceniti is all conference running back, Kam Marshall. The senior rushed for over 1,100 yards last season.
Marshall said, “we are working hard, and making sure everybody is getting that same expectation and the same level. We are only as good as our weakest player.”
On defense for the Spartans, senior linebacker Kyle Murphy is a player to watch. Murphy was named an Honorable Mention in the conference last season.
“We want to repeat as conference champions just like last year,” said Murphy. “That is always the goal, but we are going to have to work really hard as a team because the conference has a lot of really talented players this year.”
Memorial opens their season at Sun Prairie on Friday August 23.
