Girls golf teams raise money in Crusade Fore A Cure

19 high school girls golf teams from across the state played in the 10th annual Crusade Fore A Cure golf fundraiser Monday afternoon at Maple Bluff Country Club. The event was hosted by the Edgewood girls team and all proceeds went towards the UW Carbone Cancer Center.

In a round where their scores didn’t really matter as much as who they were playing their round for. The roughly 90 players wrote down somebody they knew affected by cancer and posted it to a wall at the course. The names posted were the ones being played for on Monday.

“Golf is not important today. It’s like one team,” said Edgewood head coach Peggy Gierhart. “It’s a less stress event which is what we really wanted it to be.”

Gierhart informed 27 Sports, that roughly 19 thousand dollars was raised in their event today.
