No. 1 Wisconsin women’s hockey suffers road loss

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Despite outshooting the Buckeyes 32-20, the top-ranked Wisconsin women’s hockey team suffered a 1-0 loss to No. 7 Ohio State on Friday night at the OSU Ice Rink.

The Badgers (19-2-0, 9-2-0-0 WCHA) fell midway through the first period as Jincy Dunne scored a power-play goal to give OSU (15-6-0, 9-4-0-0 WCHA) a 1-0 lead.

Wisconsin dominated play in the second period, outshooting the Buckeyes 10-3, but were unable to knot the game up.

UW dominated play again in the third, outshooting OSU 13-7, but were unable to beat Buckeye netminder Andrea Braendli, who stopped all 32 of UW’s shots.

The Badgers look for a split against the Buckeyes on Saturday as UW and OSU will wrap up the series at 2 p.m. CT at the OSU Ice Rink.
