Sun Prairie baseball falls in state championship game

GRAND CHUTE (WKOW) — The Sun Prairie baseball team came up a run short. Eau Claire North’s Sam Stange hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the 6th inning to lift the Huskies past the Cardinals 5-4 in the WIAA Division 1 State Championship.

Sun Prairie scored three runs in the top of the sixth to take a 4-2 lead. Carson Shepard drove in two runs. Alec Schmitz and Spencer Bartel each drove in a run in the game as well for Sun Prairie.

Sun Prairie’s season ends with a 24-8 record. Eau Claire North finishes 25-4.
