For the second straight year, the Madison College softball team is heading back to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament.
The WolfPack are riding momentum – having won their last 13 straight, and 20 of their last 21 games. They won’t know who they’ll face yet next week until Monday, but they like it that way.
“I do think that that’s helpful,” said sophomore infielder Dany Gumz. “I think if we knew who we were playing we’d try to prep too much for that team and we wouldn’t really focus on ourselves or the teams we have to play after that as well. So I think just focusing on ourselves and what we have to do be successful there is definitely key to getting things done when we get down there.
“They’ve been working hard all year just on the basic fundamentals,” said Coach Leo Kalinowski. “We’re not going to do anything special. Just working on the same things because we can only do so many things. We’re not going to do any trick plays or anything like that. We’re just going to play fundamental softball.”
The NJCAA Division II National Tournament is in Clinton, Mississippi from Wednesday, May 22nd through Saturday, May 25th.
