MADISON (WKOW) – A new winter weather advisory has been issued for Adams, Crawford, Grant , Juneau and Richland counties from 3 pm til midnight.

An area of mist is freezing on contact with untreated surfaces. Since this is the second day with this threat, main roads are likely already treated and will just be wet.

However, side streets, neighborhood roads, driveways and sidewalks are likely still icy.

Be especially careful when driving on these less-traveled routes. Give extra time getting on the road and extra space between vehicles, especially since the advisory is in effect during the evening commute.

Mild temps for now, Arctic blast by the weekend: full forecast

The cold front bringing in the heavier mist will move into the advisory area around the evening drive and linger til the early overnight.

Therefore, though the advisory is from 3 pm to midnight, the highest chance for slippery spots on untreated routes will be from around 5 pm and later.
