MADISON (WKOW)– Today will be cloudy, breezy, and noticeably colder than the past few days. Rain and snow will develop southwest of Madison in the morning, then steadily creep northeastward throughout the day. Any snow you see will have trouble sticking to the roads, but may accumulate a little on grassy areas.

Tonight, easterly winds will increase and could gust up to 35 mph. Windy with mainly rain showers can be expected for Dane County on southward. Farther north, a mix of snow, snow, sleet, and freezing rain is anticipated. As a result, a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY goes into effect at 10 pm for Richland, Sauk, Columbia, Dodge, Juneau, Adams, Marquette, and Green Lake counties.

1-3″ of slushy accumulation will be possible in these areas overnight. The advisory is set to expire at 10 am Thursday.
