MADISON (WKOW) — This is the sort of weekend weather one only dreams of…if you’re a duck, seal, or otter, that is.
Today has been dry because cloud cover combined with much cooler and drier air to keep the atmosphere stable. However over the weekend a stalled front will join forces with low pressure to produce multiple rounds of rain n’ rumbles tonight through Sunday. When the curtain finally falls on this soggy stretch, many areas will have picked up 1.0 to 2.0″ of rain.
Speaking of thunderstorms, there is also a low threat for strong to severe storms Saturday afternoon and Saturday night. The strongest of cells might generate quarter-size hail and/or wind gusts to 60 mph, two threats we’ll be keeping a close eye on.
So then, stay “weather aware” if the Farmers’ Market or Syttende Mai Festival are part of your weekend plans. There will be dry hours this weekend, but defining these umbrella-free periods is a challenge at this point. Your best bet is to keep two things handy this weekend – a weather app and plan B.
