MADISON (WKOW) — Savor today’s sunshine because rain and rumbles will return soon enough.
High pressure made for a pleasant Thursday with highs in the low 70s, right where we should be for May 23rd.
Yet another low pressure system will approach late tonight, bringing numerous showers to southern Wisconsin by daybreak on Friday. At this point, it appears these will taper off around midday, allowing for some dry hours in the afternoon. A second, more robust round of rain is then expected later in the day and at night. This batch is likely to include thunderstorms, a few of which could be severe. Heavy rains are also possible with these storms, with accumulations of one to two inches possible. We’ll be watching this threat closely as Friday unfolds.
While a few showers could linger into early Saturday morning, most of this day and all of Sunday look dry. Will we go three-for-three this holiday weekend? Not likely, as another low pressure system will threaten on Memorial Day. Click here for your complete 27 Storm Track forecast!
