MADISON (WKOW) — Expect our recent steamy and stormy weather pattern to persist this afternoon and evening.
Storms feed off heat and humidity, both of which will be plentiful today – highs in the mid 80s with the heat index near 90°. Low pressure and a stubborn frontal boundary will tap into this fuel, triggering a few scattered storms by mid-afternoon. A couple of storms could be strong with heavy downpours and high winds the main threats. The window of opportunity will be from 3 pm to 10 pm.
While not everyone will see a storm today, you’ll want to stay “weather aware” if you have outdoor plans. Look for storms to taper off by late evening, followed by partial clearing and perhaps some fog.
Another opportunity for storms will come on Wednesday, but they’ll be more spotty in nature. What about the 4th? Click here for your 27 Storm Track extended forecast!
