MADISON (WKOW) – Have back up plans for outdoor activities and events you may be attending on the holiday as more storms are expected to develop later in the day.
Isolated storms will still linger this evening, especially for areas west of I-90. Storm threat will diminish after 9 pm, otherwise expect a mostly cloudy, warm and muggy night with temps only getting into the upper 60s.
4TH OF JULY
An impulse of energy in the mid levels of the atmosphere will slide into the Midwest from the Northern Plains on Thursday. Expect similar temps in the mid 80s, but more humidity which will spark off a few, scattered showers and storms from mid-afternoon through the evening. Another storm is possible overnight, too.
If you get underneath one of these storms, expect heavy rain & lightning for an hour or so before the cells drift away.
Because you may have to dodge some storms, make sure you have the ability to run indoors during the afternoon and evening.
