Prepare for higher temperatures AND electric bills

MADISON (WKOW) – The dog days of summer are sticking around through at least the upcoming weekend.

FORECAST

We’ll stay hot and humid today, but a southwest breeze at 5-15 mph will mercifully take some of the edge off. Tuesday looks very similar (less of a breeze, though) with partly sunny skies and highs around 90°. Afternoon heat index values will consistently be a couple degrees warmer than the actual temperatures.

Shower and storm chances are set to return Wednesday and Thursday, then again on Saturday. However, coverage will be quite spotty all three days, meaning there’s a chance you won’t see any rain through Saturday. Highs through the weekend will consistently reach the upper 80s to mid 90s, with the hottest days coming Thursday through Saturday. A Heat Advisory will likely be issued at least one of those days.

IMPACTS

Make sure to take precautions to stay safe in the summer heat. Drink plenty of water, take frequent breaks if working outside, and wear light and loose-fitting clothing.

When inside, keep the A/C on, blinds drawn, and fans on to keep cool.
